Sixty year-old David was forced out of his home after a string of violent attacks on his South London flat.  After three months sleeping rough and staying in temporary accommodation, he was moved into a hostel.  Terrified of returning to his original home, David asked for help finding a safe place to live while at the hostel.

His support worker had heard of Real Lettings through a colleague and referred him to the scheme.  After assessing his needs, the team helped David find a secure flat in Lewisham then provided training to help him deal with all aspects of the move.  He has now been there for almost a year.

“I don’t know where I would have ended up without Real Lettings.  I never thought I’d become homeless but in the end, I didn’t have a choice.  I’d become a prisoner in my own home.  I get on really well with my landlord and he’s been helpful getting things sorted out.  I finally feel safe and secure, and am enjoying transforming the garden into somewhere where I can just sit and relax.  I’m even considering planting a small vegetable patch next!”
