Moving on from supported accommodation into your own independent accommodation can be a stressful time. Real Lettings has great experience in Resettling people out of supported accommodation into private rented accommodation. We have a Resettlement Team who offer core resettlement support. Your Resettlement Worker will be able to help you to:

  • Accompany you to viewings we will contact you when we have a property available and invite you and your support worker to view the property. We will  support you at viewing and answer any queries.
  • Attend your tenancy sign up we will support you with your tenancy sign up. In most cases we will be doing the sign up, either way we will ensure you understand the terms of your tenancy.
  • Apply for Local Housing Allowance (Housing benefit) we can help you to complete a housing benefit application and help you to chase the claim up to ensure it is assessed and in payment
  • Work & Local Housing Allowance (Housing Benefit) we can help you to calculate how much Local Housing Allowance you are entitled to if you are working or begin working.
  • Apply for any other benefits you may need to change addresses with benefits agencies. We can advise you on how to go about this.
  • Apply for grants many people will be entitled to a community care grant to get funding for furniture. If you are not entitled we will help you access funding from independent charities.
  • Access decent affordable furniture we have links to many furniture projects which we can refer you to in order to get affordable furniture and make your money go further.
  • Register for gas, electricity and water accounts we will help you to set up your gas, electricity and water accounts with various utility companies
  • Access/transfer relevant support services we will carry out an assessment after 6 months of you being housed. If it’s identified that you still need support, we will do our best to link you into floating support or any relevant support service local to you.
  • Home visits we will visit you 3 times when you move in - atr 4 weeks then between 9 and 12 weeks and finally after 6 months, to ensure that you are settling in and in a good position to manage your own tenancy.
  • Help Line  you will have access to our help line which you can contact for any issues. Our resttlement team man the helpline and will either help you directly or direct you to a service that will be able to help.
